One Today!

Happy Birthday to Darwin!

His special day is finally here! I was so excited this morning, I was awake at 6:00am waiting for Darwin to wake up. He was very excited when we went downstairs and he saw all his decorations and presents. We opened his cards whilst eating our pancakes for breakfast. He really loved the pictures on the cards and it looked like he was reading them.

Unfortunately, we all had a cold today, it meant Daddy was too sick to go to work, which was a great thing, but a shame he was sick.

We opened presents after breakfast, Darwin was more interested in the packaging and attempting to eat the polystyrene filling! Once all the rubbish was put away he really enjoyed playing with all his new toys!

He was a little under the weather, so he had a nice long afternoon nap before we had a birthday dinner, but Darwin was so tired that we didn’t get to light the cake I baked him! We’re going to save it for tomorrow.

We had a lovely day it was just a shame we were all sick. Luckily he’s having a big party next weekend!

T’was the night before!

I can’t believe our little boy is going to be one tomorrow! The year has just flown by and every day has been filled with joy and happiness thanks to our very special, little boy!

Mummy and Daddy have been busy painting Darwin’s room today. We want it to look just like his room at our apartment, we’re even hand painting the gingham wall again! Photos to follow!
We thought we’d do something nice today, so we went out for a birthday dinner. It must have been one of Darwin’s favorite meals bar breakfast with Mickey! He got lots of attention from the staff, they even sang him happy birthday and he got ice cream with a candle in it! The candle didn’t last long, he tried to touch the flame! This was Darwin’s first ice cream experience. He wasn’t sure at first and tried to take it out of his mouth, but then  the creamy, sweet flavors tantalized his taste buds and he ate the whole lot! We were worried he’d have a sugar high, but he fell asleep in the car and went happily to sleep, dream of ice cream, I’m sure!

Here is a picture of Darwin’s birthday decorations for tomorrow morning. He’s going to be very excited!

Thank you for all the cards and presents, Darwin is very spoilt!

Dancing Queen

World exclusive, first shots of Darwin’s teeth! It is such a relief now the four teeth have come through, he’s a happy, little boy again!

We had an absolutely brilliant time in Disneyworld! Darwin enjoyed every minute of it. He bit Tiger’s nose, pulled Mickey’s whiskers and threw his food with Pluto. Pluto was definitely his favorite character though. We went to the Magic Kingdom four days in a row, we watched the fireworks from our room and at the castle. We watched the illumination parade and went to Mickey’s not so scary Halloween party. Darwin dressed up as a lion! We went on lots and lots of rides and we went to Blizzard beach, which was Darwin’s first trip to a water park! By the end of the trip we were all very exhausted, especially Darwin.

Darwin’s latest thing is to dance! He really loves waving his arms, bouncing his legs and shaking his head. He does it in the car, eating his dinner and standing in his crib, it is very funny.

We can’t believe he is going to be one in a few days! Where has the past year gone?! I am going to take him to the aquarium on his birthday, we’ll have a special dinner with Daddy and I’ll bake him a cake, and then we’ll have a big party in a couple of weeks!

Ooohhhhh!

This is a picture of Darwin’s favorite new thing, pointing at something and making an ‘ooohhh’ noise! He does it to get your attention and get you to look at it. We think this expression might reoccur several times over the next few days in Disneyworld.

Apologises for the lack of posts, but we have been extremely busy with the move. We are all thoroughly enjoying our new home and lifestyle minus Daddy’s long commute!

Since we’ve moved house Darwin has got four teeth! His two middle bottom and his two front teeth, hopefully they will have grown through enough over the next week so that we’ll have toothy birthday pictures!

Darwin’s First Tooth!

Yesterday, Darwin’s first tooth came through! We could see it was on it’s way, but we didn’t expect it to come through so quickly. We were all sitting having lunch and Darwin was drinking out of a glass, when I heard a clunk like when you tap a glass on your tooth. So I put my finger into his mouth and he bit down, which most definitely confirmed that his tooth had come through!

Darwin’s really been a little trooper with his teething, he’s clearly in a lot of pain and discomfort but he still smiles and is happy.

I also noticed yesterday, that it looks like his K9 teeth are almost through. Maybe they’ll come through in time for Halloween and then he won’t need to dress up!

Ice Ice Baby

Poor, little Darwin, he really struggled with his teeth today. He’s got a bit of a cold, he slept really badly the night before and his gums were obviously bothering him. 😦 We sat down for dinner and he was quite upset but Daddy gave him some ice cubes and he loved them! It clearly soothed his irritated mouth and I managed to keep sneaking his yummy cauliflower, potato and parsnip soup that Daddy made for us, into his mouth when he would drop the ice cubes!

Eleven Months Today!

We just can’t believe that our little boy is eleven months already! Darwin as changed so much in the past month, I don’t know where to start!

Today we went to our new house with our friends Heidi and Holly. It was the first time either of the children had been in the car with another baby. The were very excited about it. Holly gets so excited that she screams, which in turn, causes Darwin to get very upset and cry. They hadn’t seen each other for six weeks and we had a play date earlier in the week, Darwin cried the whole time! Luckily today, he had gotten use to it so didn’t get as upset. They loved crawling around the house and everything Holly did, Darwin copied. We went out for lunch and they sat opposite each other and were both very well behaved, for a change. We then took them to a beach that had dogs on it! Darwin loved watching the dogs running into the sea.

Yesterday Darwin and I went to Soho with Darwin in the Bjorn. He spent the whole day waving at everyone he passed, people really loved it as did Darwin.

Early on in the week Darwin wasn’t himself, he was very upset and we couldn’t tell why, until last night, the light was shining on his gums and his bottom two teeth have almost come through!!

He has started to get upset when Daddy goes to work, but he is figuring it out and now he waves bye. For the past two days when Daddy has said ‘ba-bye’, Darwin has actually said it back! He even said bye when Heidi and Holly got out of the car! Darwin also seems to know when I’m on the phone to Daddy. I tell Darwin who it is and he starts smiling and waving!

Darwin is also going through a stage of not wanting to put on clothes and refusing to wear bibs. He pulls his bib straight off every time I put it on.

Darwin is getting more and more confident on his feet and is taking his hands off whatever he’s balancing on for a second before falling.

Holy Cow!

Today I gave Darwin a taste of cows milk. The pediatrician said that he can start having some cows milk now. As you can see from the photo, he wasn’t exactly thrilled with the taste. In fact, I have never seen him look so disgusted! After a few sips I thought he was starting to enjoy it until he pulled off the top of his cup and poured the milk all over the floor! We’ll try again tomorrow.

Darwin’s New Friend

Today Darwin and Mummy went uptown to meet baby Han. Like Darwin, baby Han was born slim and long and also like Darwin, he doesn’t like to sleep at night!

Darwin was very excited to meet his new friend and started showing off and shrieking with excitement when he saw him. He was reaching out to touch him but we only let him touch his toes.

On Saturday, Darwin saw his other friend, Rosie. Rosie is getting so big now, she’s bigger than Darwin. They play together really nicely and try to crawl on top of each other. We were at our friends party in Upstate NY. It was lots of fun but the place was swarming with insects and mosquitos, you could feel them biting you constantly, so we were worried about Darwin getting bitten. When we got home my back was covered in bites, luckily Darwin only got three bites, one in the middle of his forehead.

Yesterday, Darwin briefly stood up twice without holding on! He’s getting braver everyday!

Last week Darwin discovered his tongue. He kept pulling it and twisting it and poking it out.

He’s also been waving, clapping his hands and pointing to things for the past couple of weeks!

Happy Hands

Darwin is coming on leaps and bounds with his hands. He’s been clapping his hands for about three weeks, he is thrilled by his clapping. He is also pointing his finger and as of today he has started waving!

I haven’t told you all that we cut Darwin’s hair! He looks really grown up now. I took him in for a trim and she hacked away his beautiful hair. Daddy was not happy with Mummy!

Also, we are moving out of the city to Connecticut in three weeks. Can’t believe it, it’s all happened so fast. We decided that the country life would be better for the family with a big house, back garden and fresh air. We’re really looking forward to it.
